Since this is my bio, I guess I will write it in the first person. Our family came to Victory Heights UB Church in December of 2006. This was my first pastorate as I had always been involved in Christian radio and missions. I grew up in this area and my wife (Amanda) was raised in Carrollton, Ohio. Amanda and I met in college and both graduated in 2001 from Kentucky Mountain Bible College. We were married two weeks later. We knew even before we were married that God was directing us to Papua New Guinea to help with the starting of the first Christian Broadcasting Network in that country. It was called Wantok Radio Light. We were only able to stay in PNG for a year because when we came back to the states for Christmas vacation a doctors appointment showed that I had an aortic aneurysm that needed prompt surgery.
After surgery and recovery I worked at a local Christian radio station here in Franklin - WAWN. Then I secured a job in Syracuse, New York at the Mars Hill Network. I worked in the fields of production, underwriting, and was the Program Director until the time that God called me to the ministry he had for me at Victory Heights.
I always loved working in Christian radio and was never planning on leaving that field but God had other plans. It actually stems back to a youth camp in Danville, VA that I ministered at while I was a sophomore in college. God wanted me to give up radio at the end of one of the services. I didn't want to let radio go so I fought that altar call. Thankfully I eventually responded and all God wanted for me to do was to let it go. I did and God allowed me many years of Christian radio work after that time. When the doors opened for me to accept the call to pastoral ministry I had already given my all to God so the transition wasn't too difficult.
I have learned so much since 2006. I have made good decisions and some that I wish I could change but God has truly blessed me and my family with a great church to lead. I am excited about what the Lord is doing in so many lives of people here at the church. It is an honor and a joy to be the pastor of such a great group of people and I am excited to see where God will continue to lead us together.
If you don't have a church family to call home I encourage you to come out on a Sunday morning. It's not going to hurt anything and the worst thing that could happen is that your life could radically change forever!
